Generative AI Policy

Imagen Diagnóstica recognizes the growing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in scholarly communication and supports their responsible, transparent, and ethical application. The journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) regarding the use of AI-assisted technologies in research and publishing.

Authors may use generative AI tools to improve language, grammar, readability, or assist in data organization; however, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, originality, and scientific validity of all submitted content. AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the work, approve the final manuscript, disclose conflicts of interest, or fulfill authorship criteria established by the ICMJE.

Authors are encouraged to disclose the use of generative AI tools within the manuscript, including the name of the tool, version (if available), and the purpose for which it was used. Acceptable uses may include language editing, text refinement, or assistance with formatting, whereas the use of AI-generated content to fabricate data, manipulate images, create misleading information, or misrepresent research findings is strictly prohibited.

Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscript content, unpublished data, or sensitive information into publicly accessible AI systems that may compromise author confidentiality, intellectual property rights, or the integrity of the peer review process.

Imagen Diagnóstica reserves the right to request additional information regarding the use of AI-assisted technologies and may reject manuscripts where the use of generative AI is considered unethical, misleading, inadequately disclosed, or inconsistent with accepted standards of scientific integrity.

Authors are expected to comply with all applicable ethical standards and maintain transparency regarding the use of AI technologies throughout the research, writing, and publication process.
